Selma F. Rooney

May 21, 1930 - November 20, 2018
Born in Yonkers, New York
Resided in Branchville, New Jersey

Selma F Rooney died peacefully on Tuesday, November 20 with her loved ones at her side.

Born in Yonkers NY in 1930, Selma graduated from the Englewood Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She lived most of her life in Sussex County, at Culver Lake, the place she truly loved.

To her husband Arthur, who preceded her in death 31 years ago, Sel was the love of his life.

To her sons, Patrick and Michael, Mom was wise mentor and moral compass. To her daughters, Maureen and Kathleen, she was best friend and adventurous travel companion. And to her in-laws—Korey, John, and Michele— Missus was equally friend and mother.

To her grandchildren—Alecia, Amy, Timothy, Michael, and Colleen— Gram was witty, kind and always supportive.

As an RN at the Sussex County Homestead for many years, she was a caring and compassionate professional; and then as administrator, she was a strong advocate for patients and staff alike.

After 88 years of caring for others, Selma is at rest. Those who knew her will miss, but will never forget, her beautiful spirit. She lives on in memories.

As per Selma’s wishes, services will be private at a later date at convenience of family.
