Obituary

Robert Malcolm Risdon (Red), 90, formerly of Branchville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, in Greenville, S.C. Born in Jersey City to the late Harold C. and Helene (Russ) Risdon Sr., he moved to Frankford in his teens. A longtime resident of Branchville, he and his wife moved to South Carolina five years ago to be near their daughter.
He was a 1945 graduate of Newton High School. He worked for Household Engineering in heating and refrigeration for almost 40 years. Becoming an independent contractor, he worked at High Point Regional High School, Lafayette House and Dingman's Dairy. His excellent problem-solving skills served him and his customers well over the years. Until his mid 80s, he continued to help old customers with whatever problem they encountered. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, 1950-1952.
He loved hunting and fishing with friends, both locally and in Maine. In winter the family pond was covered with family and friends ice skating, and for many years you could find him and Ginna snowmobiling any time a flake fell. Finding someplace new to visit led him to Australia, Mexico and to most of the United States. In later years, RV travel across the southern tier occupied winters.
In addition to his parents, Red, was predeceased by his brother, Harold Jr. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Virginia (Johnson) Risdon; his daughter, Ruth (Risdon) Turner, of Simpsonville, S.C.; his brothers, Hugh and his wife, Joann, of Branchville, Charles, of Culver Lake, Edwin Sr. and his wife, Doris, of Frankford; three step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews and their children.

Memorial Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at the Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main St, Branchville. A Graveside Service will follow at the Branchville Cemetery.
