Born in Paterson, NJ, George lived in Hampton Township, NJ, before moving to Florida in 2008. He was a United States Army veteran stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. George was the owner/operator of B&G Lawyer Service in Newton, NJ, before his retirement in 2001. A former member of Christ Church in Newton, George was an active member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Stuart.

George enjoyed active civic engagement. He was a founding member of the Newton Junior Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Hampton Township Planning Board, and a coach with Newton Braves Little League Football. He was also a member of the Hampton Township Rotary and was a Paul Harris Fellow.

George was an active member of Christ Church in Newton, where he was a member of the vestry and frequently served as an usher. He was also active in the Boy Scouts, serving on the troop committee of Christ Church Troop 185 as well as a Philmont Scout Ranch expedition leader.

Yet, George was perhaps best known for his bright red socks. This daily habit of red socks was developed when he was as a student at the Peddie School in Hightstown, NJ.

The son of the late James Nightengale Wright and Emma (nee Radcliff) Wright, George was predeceased by his wife, Barbara G. Wright, on July 2, 2016. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Pamela Ruth Wright of Califon, NJ; his son, George F. Wright III and wife, Cathy, of West Orange, NJ; and two step-grandsons, Brian Meise and wife, Lara, and Jeffrey Meise.
